WA Supermarkets: We Want A Vegan Aisle Please!

WA Supermarkets: We Want A Vegan Aisle Please!
The issue
The number of vegans in WA is growing rapidly day by day! As of May 2016 there are just under 5,500 members in the Vegans in Perth Facebook group alone (with many smaller WA vegan groups gaining members every day as well).
With animal welfare, environmental and health issues becoming a major concern for more and more consumers world-wide, many have adopted a vegan diet so as not to support those industries reported to be responsible (ie. Animal Agriculture - which is the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction).[1]
Also, in terms of consumer behaviour, according to a report by Mintel (the global leader in market intelligence) [2] [3], plant-based food is one of THE top trends of 2016. Mintel included animal product alternatives in its "Global Food and Drink Trends 2016" report. The section, entitled “Alternatives Everywhere,” read as follows [3] [4]:
"Veggie burgers and non-dairy milks have escaped the realm of substitutes primarily for people with dietary concerns and followers of vegetarian diets. Instead, the growing ranks of novel protein sources and potential replacements appeal to the everyday consumer, foreshadowing a profoundly changed marketplace in which what was formerly ‘alternative’ could take over the mainstream."
For vegans who shop at supermarkets like Coles, Woolworths or Aldi's it has been noted (and appreciated) that the availability and selection of vegan products has steadily grown over the last few years. However, it can be quite a challenge to actually find them, especially when pressed for time.
At the moment shopping for vegan items in any of the 3 major supermarkets (whether one is vegan or 'mainstream') usually means spending an inordinate amount of time reading the ingredients list of several different brands of items before finding one that is vegan friendly (although sometimes it turns out that there isn't a vegan option available at all).
There really is a gap in the market, and we hope you can fill it for us!
There's a HUGE and growing market waiting for those Supermarket chains willing to stock a wider range of vegan products and making them easily accessible. Placing them in one aisle would be very beneficial for a growing number of consumers (ie. vegans; those looking for healthier options; and those who suffer from Lactose intolerance etc).
We feel by providing a vegan section in the supermarket you would:
• Make vegan options easily accessible to all customers
• Give all customers greater confidence when choosing products
• Reduce the stress of shopping for vegan items
• Create a more favourable opinion of big brand supermarkets
We hope you consider our request as it is something we feel is lacking in WA at the moment and would benefit a large number of shoppers now and in the future!
Thank you.
