VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE FOR JAMIAN ROCKHILL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR SCOTIA-GLENVILLE SCHOOL

VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE FOR JAMIAN ROCKHILL ATHLETIC DIRECTOR SCOTIA-GLENVILLE SCHOOL
The Issue
We, the undersigned parents, taxpayers, alumni and residents of the Scotia-Glenville School District, have composed this letter to express our dissatisfaction with the current Athletic Director Jamian Rockhill.
This letter is an expression of our “Vote of no Confidence” in Jamian Rockhill and his ability to function as the Athletic Director of our sports programs. We understand the severity of this decision and did not arrive at it hastily.
Scotia-Glenville has had a long-standing tradition of Tartan Pride. Tartan Pride is the ability for a smaller school to show up and compete with dignity. Competing; winning or losing with our athlete’s heads held up high, proud of the fight they put into the game, and still walking away feeling accomplished. Tartan Pride is the community and students bonding over successful underdog victories and heartbreaking overtime losses. Tartan Pride is building the confidence of our elementary students and creating the next generation of crimson and white.
Throughout Mr. Rockhill’s tenure as Athletic Director there have been numerous avoidable issues that have led to the decline in student participation, athlete’s getting injured, and embarrassment in performance across many programs. These problems include not providing adequate communication between coaches, athletes, and parents; not hiring and approving coaches in a timely manner, not attending athletic events and council wide programs on a regular basis, and a lack of leadership at every level.
There seems to be no accountability for this lack of leadership and the results of this have been ignored for far too long. We need an Athletic Director who has the best interests of every student in the Scotia-Glenville School District and thrives on helping them become successful. After multiple meetings and opportunities to improve we have yet to see any meaningful growth in his abilities. We are looking for an immediate change to have his title stripped of Athletic Director. We would like an Athletic Director who wants the best for our student athletes, our community and the future.
