The Issue

Many families, including mine, work extremely hard to preserve Bellevue Road as a dedicated farming community. Almost all of these farms stem from multi-generational families who have poured their hearts and souls into cultivating these lands. We have watched our great grandparents, grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and now ourselves sacrifice more than what is imaginable to build the farms we have today. Being a farmer is no easy task, and introducing a 24/7 fabrication operation will pose challenges that are absolutely unnecessary and profoundly disruptive.

The proposed fabrication plant on Bellevue Road threatens to devastate our tight-knit rural, farming, and residential community. The approval of SU25-0014 would lead to heartbreaking consequences that extend far beyond mere inconvenience. Our roads, which are not designed to handle heavy industrial traffic, would become laden with congestion and chaos, shattering the tranquility of our single-lane dirt roads. These are roads that not only facilitate agriculture but also serve as a safe and accessible road for bikers, runners, walkers, and nature enthusiasts to enjoy the beauty of our surroundings. Losing this sanctuary would be unjust, robbing us and future generations of invaluable experiences and memories.

Moreover, the increase in traffic would pose significant safety concerns for all community members who rely on Bellevue Road for daily activities, commuting, and transportation of farm equipment and livestock. With more traffic, there is a promise of increased danger and crime. Safety for our farmers on the roads is the utmost important factor. However, increased traffic will also increase the likelihood of trespassing, road hunting, and overall tomfoolery on land that families sacrifice everything to preserve. The prospect of living amidst constant noise, pollution, and disruption is not only concerning but unacceptable for a place that so many of us call home.

With multiple, vacant, industrial areas spread throughout the county, already equipped with logistically appropriate infrastructure for this facility, one being within 6 miles of the proposed site... it is completely unjust for an entire community to be flipped upside down. Building this fabrication plant in a residential, farming community is astoundingly inconsiderate when there are commercial opportunities so close by.

We cannot underestimate the impact this approval will have on the multi-generational legacy of our farming families and the very fabric of our community. Our connection to the land and to each other is woven into the very essence of this area, and approving SU25-0014 would unravel this precious tapestry.

Join us in urging the authorities to reconsider this proposal for the sake of preserving the integrity, safety, and heritage of Bellevue Road. Vote no to SU25-0014 and help us protect our community's future. Please sign this petition and send an email saying you "VOTE NO TO SU25-0014" to pcpubliccomments@bedfordcountyva.gov.
