The Issue

For years, my mother and numerous friends have devoted their time, love, and energy to  RAP program in Ripon, a program that has profoundly impacted not only my family but our entire community. My son is among the countless children who have thrived in this nurturing environment, forming meaningful relationships with caring adults who have provided guidance, safety, and opportunities for personal growth.

Now, there is a proposal on the table to replace the RAP program with the "Give Every Child a Chance" initiative. While it might sound promising in theory, the reality is that this transition threatens to disrupt a successful community program, eliminate numerous jobs, and sever the bonds that our children have formed with familiar and trusted mentors.

The RAP program is not just an after-school activity; it is a community cornerstone. The staff have become integral parts of Ripon's community fabric, working tirelessly to create a supportive, enriching environment for our children. By closing this program, we not only risk putting these invaluable staff members out of work, but we also take away the stability and continuity that our children rely on.

The proposed "Give Every Child a Chance" initiative fails to guarantee positions for the current RAP employees, risking their livelihood and ignoring their expertise and dedication. The decision to replace RAP seems driven by convenience rather than the needs of the community, and suggests that the people of Ripon are replaceable. Rusty Clark, who is advocating for this change, apparently overlooks the importance of maintaining a consistent, caring environment for the youth.

It's crucial to acknowledge that changes on paper do not translate to immediate success on the ground. The existing RAP program's success speaks volumes through the lives it touches. We must continue to support the backbone of our community—our dedicated RAP staff—and ensure they are not unjustly displaced.

Join us in opposing the closure àwof the RAP program. Let us stand together to protect the jobs and relationships that are vital to our community and our children's development. By signing this petition, you are voicing your support to maintain the RAP program and sending a clear message that Ripon's families believe in the value of established, nurturing environments for our children.
