The Issue

The Lucky Star franchise is a staple of anime and manga culture whose fans are still captivated and thriving to this day. The characters are lovable and oftentimes relatable, there are many iconic and memorable scenes, and it’s known and appreciated around the world and in most every corner of the internet.

However, as expected of the fanbase of an anime with only 24 episodes and 1 OVA, we can’t help but want more. Besides, there are characters in the manga that haven’t even shown up in the anime as well as opportunities to continue the characters’ life stories. Whether season 2 takes place in the same time period as season 1 or if it takes place in the current era instead, it’d be fun for us to get updates on the lives of the characters we’re so fond of and attached to.

From what I’ve gathered, the reason as for why there are no more Lucky Star episodes is that Kyoto Animation thought it wasn’t doing so well in terms of popularity, but with how popular the franchise is now, there’s a growing demand, and in a sense, need for more content. We deeply care about this interest, this passion of ours, and are upset and disappointed about its discontinuation.

While Lucky Star is already, of course, wonderful, we as fans still have the desire to be “fed”. We can’t get enough, especially since there’s a shortage of official Lucky Star content currently in existence.

I often find myself rewatching the anime over and over again, both subbed version and the dubbed version, paying more and more attention to the details every time just to feel something similar to watching new episodes, episodes that don’t yet exist.
The more I rewatch it, the more I appreciate it, and yet I can’t help but crave to see even just as little as a glimmer of hope for the mere existence a continuation of the series. It’s my favorite show, so it means a lot to me.

P. S. I’m aware that there’s already a petition for this here, but since it seems to no longer be signable, I decided to make a new one. And no, I’m not the same person who posted the previous one.

P. P. S. I apologize for the repetitive, redundant, and unprofessional nature of this rant. I just really love Lucky Star and hate the result of Kyoto Animation’s loss of motivation and hope (that being the discontinuation of Lucky Star, obviously).
