Visa applications processing time

Visa applications processing time
The Issue
I, Amanjot Singh, am starting this petition on behalf of many visa applicants who are currently experiencing significant delays in visa processing (subclass 190 & 491 etc)
Our lives are in limbo. My own application has been pending for over 26 months, and I am not alone—there are countless others facing the same uncertainty. These delays are having a severe impact on our mental health, with many applicants experiencing anxiety, stress, and even depression due to the prolonged waiting periods and lack of communication.
In recent weeks, some progress has been observed in visa applications lodged in July, August, September, and October 2023. While we appreciate that some files are being processed, it is deeply concerning that many applications from June 2023, including mine (lodged on 20th June), have received no updates whatsoever. Many of us are on medications now to help with depression and anxiety
We are not asking for special treatment—we are simply requesting fairness, transparency, and timely processing of our visa applications. We understand that visa processing can be complex, but the inconsistency and lack of communication have left us feeling helpless and ignored.
Therefore, we kindly and respectfully urge the Australian Government and the Department of Home Affairs to:
Review and expedite the processing of long-pending visa applications, especially those lodged in 2023.
Improve transparency by providing regular updates to applicants regarding the status of their files.
Ensure fairness and consistency in the processing order to restore faith in the immigration system.
This issue is affecting real people, real families, and real futures. We seek your compassion and immediate attention to resolve this matter.
Sincerely,
Amanjot Singh
(On behalf of affected visa applicants)
