Primary for the Republican Party of Virginia

The Issue

In December of 2020, the Republican Party of Virginia State Central Committee had a meeting to decide which nomination method (Primary, Canvass, or Convention) would be selected for our statewide candidates for the November 2021—Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General elections. It was decided by a very slim margin that the nomination method would be a Convention.

There are many issues with the hosting of a Convention and these have since been discussed at length. A few of the issues with the Convention nomination process are as follows: military service members cannot participate; the current executive order makes gatherings of more than 10 people illegal; the fiscal impact is unknown; the inconvenience of having voters drive hours away to a specific location in the state on a Saturday in May, are just a few and the list continues. Even with all these issues, the party "elites" feel as though they know what is best, without taking into consideration the many concerns of all Conservative Virginians.

It is time Conservative Virginians say enough is enough and that our collective voice matters! We have an obligation to implore those who are in favor of a convention to overturn their decision, prior to February 23, 2021, which is the deadline to file with the department of elections for a Primary.  As Conservative Virginians, we must take a stand against the party “elite."

The current deadlock, imposed by the Convention supporters, threatens to throw the decision about who will be our November 2021 statewide nominees to the State Central Committee.  If this happens, no one outside of the members of the State Central Committee will even have a vote.  This is the worst possible outcome!

This monumental decision shouldn't be left to the party elites! It should be made by the men and women who have been forgotten by the Convention supporters--the men and women who are suffering under the current administration's erosion of our basic rights.

Please sign the petition to give all Virginia Republicans the opportunity to have their voices heard in a Primary Election for our State-Wide Candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General!
