It is my belief that after serving 20 or more years as a member of the armed services and have decided to make Virginia your permanent home, the state government of Virginia should not tax your retirement pay. The sacrifices made in defense of our great nation should be repaid by not only not applying state tax to retirement pay but also not having these retirees pay property taxes.

Out of the 50 states in this great union, 9 states do not have a personal income tax, 22 states do not tax military retirement pay, 16 only tax a portion of it only leaving 3 states that fully tax military retirement pay, California, Vermont and Virginia. The faithful service of these select few should be repaid with a show of appreciation for their sacrifice by eliminating the state tax and property tax for them.

I am currently working on and writing letters to all 40 State Senators, 100 Delegates plus the 17 ones who will be taking office in January, as well as the current and future Governor and Lieutenant Governor.
