Good morning, everyone! I hope that you all had a fantastic and memorable weekend. This week, we return to the fight on the clemency front. We have always fought on two fronts, clemency and a change in the law. You know that Kelly cannot file another clemency request for two years, but that does not impact us.
Governor McAuliffe's record indicates that he doesn't mind taking unusual actions in his duties and I believe this to be a worthy action. I will write my final letter to him this week and send it out before Friday. I will also send him an email re-capping what I wrote. I do not ask you for both, but I would very much appreciate it if you could see your way to writing one or the other.
Please ask Governor McAuliffe to grant Kelly the ability to apply for parole. She is the only woman serving a life sentence given selectively as a child who does not have that privilege in Virginia. This is her 23rd year in prison and all that she asks is to be forgiven for her past and to be allowed the opportunity to prove that her heart has truly changed. She has always shown remorse for what she did and she accepts responsibility for her actions as an accessory to murder at age 17. She does not ask for a reversal of her conviction. She does not ask for a reduced sentence. All she asks for is a chance to prove who she has become. I believe that she has earned that privilege.
You can write Governor McAuliffe an email here:

Or you can write a letter to this address:
Governor Terry McAuliffe
Common Ground for Virginia
P.O. Box 1475

With your help, we can one day see Kelly Anne released from prison and re-start her life.
God bless,
Bill
