I ask you to tell him that it is wrong to rob a child of all hope of ever being free again. Because children are immature and not yet fully developed mentally, their responsibility for their actions is less than that of an adult. Therefore, they should not be forced to pay this terrible price. It is the nature of children that they grow up, mature, and change. The U.S. Supreme Court recognized this in their Graham decision.
