Because of the pandemic, schools were forced to close in 2020 and students returned home. Once things started getting better, students were allowed back on campus as schools across the nation implemented Covid 19 rules. One of these rules at VCU is a no guest policy, meaning anybody who isn't an on campus resident cannot be allowed into any on campus housing. VCU is the only Virginia school to have this rule, which prohibits not only friends who don't go to the school, friends who go to the school but live off campus, and even family members from visiting. VCU has stated they will no longer be mandating vaccines to return to school, so if that's the case, why can't guests be allowed? While people understand there do need to be precautions for Covid, there are ways we can implement a new policy and still be safe. If getting rid of the policy as a whole is not possible, VCU should consider at least requiring negative covid tests prior to guests arrival,  or even showing vaccinations cards.
