After Four years at Villanova University,

This group of seniors deserves a speaker who will motivate them to become diligent and respectful citizens. Unfortunately, we have been told that Father Peter, the president of the university, who has not done an adequate job protecting his students from racism, homophobia, and sexual assault, will be delivering the commencement speech.

Just one month ago, Father Peter held a town hall in which he could not answer questions about the NUMEROUS sexual assault cases on campus. Our students do not feel safe and protected under his administration. Now they are “rewarding” us with him as a speaker? As much as I’ve loved Villanova and my college experience, this will surely put a damper on how I end my four years. 

I wish Villanova actually listened to what the students had to say. Instead, they put forth someone who many students do not like. That is a true shame. DO BETTER. 

Furthermore, there are several speakers who would  deliver a better commencement speech than Father Peter. These people include Jay Wright, Denise Dillon, or Jill Biden.
