As of September 28, 2020, the Key Biscayne Community Center remains closed until further notice due to COVID-19. While the pool has opened for lap swimming by appointments only, this petition is to re-open the gym (weight room) as well. 

Weightlifting is an essential activity for a lot of people living in Key Biscayne which helps maintain a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. The gym located at KBCC is the only facility in Key Biscayne that allows access to any resident of KB (as long as they are members). 

On September 26, 2020, emergency order 30-20 allowed all businesses and facilities to operate at 100% while maintaining social distancing guidelines as specified by the CDC. The opening of the KBCC Gym will allow multiple residents to get back in-shape and to get back into their daily routines. 

We ask that the Key Biscayne Community Center considers re-opening the weight room for the people that are eager to workout while maintaining any necessary safety precautions.
