A flag is a symbol of your city, state, community or nation. A good flag is one that your community is proud to fly in solidarity. Currently the village of Algonquin's flag is not one I see often but I long to see our communities united under a symbol and a reminder that we have a voice. I have lived in Algonquin my whole life and am passionate about making major change one day. I believe that a symbol such as a flag can make all the difference in a town like ours. I decided to design a flag that I believed people of Algonquin can be proud of. After many variations, I came to the following flag design. Two stars representing each side of the town divided by the fox river. The blue stripes representing the river, blue being the color of loyalty and wisdom, all on a white background meaning purity and peace. Finally, our towns emblem in the center.
