As we know that the Higher Secondary Examination of West Bengal Board of Secondary Education, class 12 Board Examination of Central Board of Second Education and ISC had been unfortunately called off, keeping in mind the scenario due to the COVID 19 pandemic. But this has proved to be detrimental for students as some have hugely benefitted for it whereas the others have deeply been deprived as they did not receive the marks they aimed for due to the varied assessment schemes undertaken by the three different boards.
So, an entrance examination is necessary as :
A) The marks awarded to students in the subjects they have not appeared for have been different between the three boards and is nothing but a basis of discrimination. These marks must never be the basis of admission on colleges.
B) Several students have dropped a year to appear for an entrance examination for UG 2020 and they cannot afford to lose another year.
C) Admission tests are a must as these varied marks received by students not on the basis of their performance in each subject but solely based on an assessment scheme must never be the judging criteria of expertise of a student.
So, as students it is a plea for conducting an entrance exam for UG 2020 to the authorities as these varied marks must never be considered as a sole judging criteria of admission in colleges. It may not render meritorious students the chance to study in their preferred colleges.
