It's been almost 8 months and students are stuck at homes due to the pandemic. Recently, A news came from Lady Sri Ram College of University of Delhi that a student had committed suicide due to the mental effect of this pandemic and the 'Online Classes'. This is not the only story, a recent survey conducted in the same college found that 96% of the total students are facing mental issues due to online classes. The online infrastructre in India is not as much developed as it should be to conduct classes online, to conduct 'Practical Exams' online, to conduct placement drives and all. Students locked in their homes are facing depression issues. In addition to that, many students, who are preparing for entrances and civil services examinations, lack suitable environment for study at their homes. They are now falling into the trap of depression, anxiety, and stress.

Mass gatherings are allowed in political rallies without any precautions like mask and social distancing, but Final year Students, who are well-educated and know what is wrong and what is right, are not allowed to sit in the classrooms even with following the set norms.

UGC recently released the guidelines for reopening of colleges. Some of the good suggestions in the same are what we want to be taken into consideration and  to open college premises as soon as the next semester begins. These are the suggestions -

(i) Reopening of the premises atleast for Final year Students.

(ii) Students should be provided with the option of online and offline mode of classes. Two separate sections can be made.

(iii) Entry inside the college can be allowed for final years only, to reduce the gathering.

(iv) Labs should be opened. With atleast 50% capacity.

This is an urge to all the stakeholders to please take cognizance of what is going on in the minds of the students in reality, rather than just being a bystander.
