Safe Pedestrian Crossing for HIGH STREET BANNOCKBURN

Safe Pedestrian Crossing for HIGH STREET BANNOCKBURN
The issue
As Bannockburn is growing rapidly it is becoming increasingly evident we need a SAFE and EFFECTIVE pedestrain crossing.
We need to protect::
- elderly residents
- young children
- people with vision impairment
- those in wheelchairs or with walking aides
- parents with kids in prams
- people trying to walk their dogs.
Currently the safest spot to cross is in front of the library but this crossing is difficult to navigate for people in wheel chairs and cars still do not give way unless it is school zone time. It is dangerous being stranded in the middle of the road waiting.
The crossing near the service station is dangerous due to the railing in the middle of High Street preventing a clear view of oncoming traffic.
I am pushing for a PEDESTRIAN RIGHT OF WAY Zebra crossing with flashing lights to warn cars to slow down (and stop) when they see a pedestrain. Ideally two such crossings - one on High Street and one on Milton Street.
The surface of these crossings needs to be smooth and flat to enable wheel chairs to get across as well.
Please sign this petition if you agree this is something we need in our increasingly busy town to protect vulnerable members of our community. Let's take this to Vic Roads, our council and our local minister and see if someone can make it happen
Thank you
