For years the New York City Council and Mayor's Office have declared that the New York City Correction Department acted in a harmful and destructive manner in the operation of department facilities and Rikers Island in General.

The City Council has made it a mission to close many facilities and Rikers completely. However, they have forgotten to show support to the veteran employees of the department who have been physically and mentally damaged through no fault of their own.

In showing support for this cause we hope to establish a city funded support system which will provide support to veteran NYC Correction Department staff nationwide who, years after exposure to unknown and unexpected dangers, are now in need of financial, physical, and mental support.
