Veronika’s Voice, Our Fight: Hold Rapists Accountable

Veronika’s Voice, Our Fight: Hold Rapists Accountable
The Issue
This is more than just a case—it is a fight to restore the voice of a victim who has been silenced and wronged by the very system meant to protect her.
My best friend Veronika had the courage to come forward about her sexual assault in the military, but instead of receiving compassion and justice, she was wrongfully arrested and charged with filing a false report and wiretapping by the Fort Indiantown Gap Police. Her bravery was met with disbelief and accusations, turning her from a victim into a suspect. What was already an unimaginably traumatic experience has been compounded by these charges, leaving her isolated and without the support she so desperately needs.
Her family has endured unbearable stress, spending thousands of dollars on expert witnesses, legal counsel, and travel expenses to fight these baseless accusations.
The Fort Indiantown Gap Police Department dismissed her rape as a false report simply because it wasn’t filed the same night the assault occurred. This dismissive assumption ignores powerful evidence, including audio recordings that clearly prove the encounter was non-consensual.
According to the 2023 National Crime Victimization Survey, only 27% of sexual assaults are reported to law enforcement—a heartbreaking statistic that reflects the fear and barriers victims face when deciding to speak up. Veronika’s experience is a stark reminder of why so many survivors remain silent, fearing not just disbelief but punishment.
The military took Veronika’s claims seriously, holding the perpetrator accountable by discharging him. Yet, local civilian authorities in Annville, Pennsylvania, failed her with a biased and flawed investigation that only deepened her pain.
We urge the Lebanon County District Attorney’s Office to drop all charges against Veronika. This is not just about clearing her name—it is about sending a powerful message that sexual assault survivors deserve support, not persecution.
Veronika’s voice has been silenced but we can speak for her. Please sign this petition to stand with Veronika in their fight for justice. Together, we can challenge the systemic injustices that continue to fail survivors and amplify the voices of those who refuse to be silenced.
