After receiving news that students will not be attending Hybrid school, students were also alerted of a change in time to that of extended eSchool: Starting on Wednesday, November 11th, school will now begin at 8:25 in the morning instead of 9:00.

For many, this is a small change. However, what needs to be understood is that this shows our own school district contradicting themselves from years prior. Our own Board was in favor of changing the start time to 8:45 just a short few years ago to allow students to get more rest. This meant that for students taking early bird or a 0 hour class, they still had plenty of extra time to sleep. Now, students taking a 0 hour class are required to wake up around 6:45 in the morning to attend a 7:00 am class, even if they are not attending Hybrid, if they wish to be able to eat breakfast prior to class.

What is this for? At the moment, there's no benefit to starting school earlier when no students are attending in-person classes. However, there are drawbacks. In a time full of stress for all students, students should focus on both their physical and mental wellbeing. Being forced to wake up earlier does not help anyone in the equation.
