Stop ruining people's credit with tainted credit reporting practices!
The Issue
The reality of today's economy is cruel, and Americans who are working hard to pay their bills and keep good credit despite the difficulties they're presented with should be rewarded and not penalized. Verizon Wireless's credit reporting practices provide a good example of the type of corporate abuse the Occupy movements tried to obtain relief from.
I am a recent college graduate working hard to pay my taxes, pay off student loan debt and be an excellent citizen. I made a payment arrangement with Verizon Wireless & when I made a payment a few days late, Verizon still accepted my payment, confirming that my payment arrangement was still good. Three days later, they reported to one of the credit bureaus that I had an account in collections that was over 120 days past due. Even after I paid the balance in full that same day, Verizon wireless continues to report to credit bureaus that I have an account that I have not paid. This is false! My credit score dropped from a 714 to a 644! A Verizon representative let me know that while he had the power to have this item removed from my credit report, he would not.
I'm certain that I am not the only one suffering this sort of mistreatment! It must stop! We have enough financial difficulties without corporations like Verizon Wireless making it worse!
