The Issue

The Commonwealth of Virginia prohibits the use of firearms smaller then .23 cal for use in deer hunting. States like North Carolina allow the use of .223 for deer hunting and hunters have a high success rate with the small caliber rifles. The guns are usually built on a highly versatile platform, allowing guns to fit smaller framed hunters a more stable option then larger calibers. Also available platforms have low recoil and noise to allow children and people with certain disabilities a safer more stable option.
