Variation withdrawn - Refuse The Coat & Badge Outdoor Bar Licence Variation (App 299500)
The Issue
Update - variation withdrawn
Refuse The Coat & Badge Outdoor Bar Licence Variation (App 299500)
We ask the Licensing Committee at Wandsworth Council to REFUSE this licence variation in its current form.
Key proposed changes
The pub is applying for a permanent outdoor bar operating every day until 23:20, including alcohol sales ON and OFF the premises (takeaway drinks from the garden).
This significantly expands outdoor drinking in a residential area.
The application is also inconsistent — it states no changes to licensable activities, yet selects permissions relating to live and recorded music associated with the outdoor bar, creating uncertainty about potential indoor and outdoor entertainment everyday until 23:20.
Why residents are concerned - this proposal risks:
• Daily late-night outdoor drinking and noise
• Increasing antisocial behaviour and observed drug use in nearby roads
• Street drinking and longer dispersal due to takeaway alcohol
• Litter and broken glass in surrounding streets
• Safety concerns for residents and families
These risks conflict with Wandsworth licensing policy on outdoor drinking areas and off-sales in residential locations.
What we are asking - Refuse the variation in its current form.
Residents have submitted detailed representations and these should be fully considered before any revised application is brought forward.
Important – You can and should still submit a representation.
