The photo above of a neighbourhood store with all the tobacco products which contain highly addictive nicotine. They are hidden from public view, to discourage children from buying cigarettes.
On the left of the photo is a full display of a range of vaping products, which also contains highly addictive nicotine products. They are displayed in highly colourful, child friendly packaging. In some stores they are actually on the counter, where people can pick up the products to make their selection.
A tobacco license is required to sell any tobacco products and only in certain retail premises. They are age restricted at 18.
No license of any kind is required to sell any of the vaping products, and they can be sold by anyone. They too are age restricted at 18.
Is it any wonder that in 2022 we had 7% of children from 11-17 were vaping and by 2023 this had jumped up by 50% to 11.7% of children vaping.
We must ban completely any single-use vaping products now, to protect children from nicotine addiction.
