All proceeds from September Issue of Vanity Fair donated to Louisville Bail Fund

All proceeds from September Issue of Vanity Fair donated to Louisville Bail Fund
The Issue
Breonna Taylor’s image is being exploited. Her unjust death is not served by magazine covers from companies that have ignored Black women. With a history of less than 17 Black women on over 400 edition covers in nearly 40 years, the use of Breonna on the front cover of Vanity Fair‘s September Issue is the plain-sighted commodification of both her image and death. It is morally unjust for her likeness to be used to line a magazine’s pockets who have historically ignored Black women.
Vanity Fair will directly profit from using Breonna’s image unless all proceeds are donated back into Louisville Bail Fund or Breonna’s GoFundMe. Exposure, street names and magazine covers do not bring us any closer to justice for Breonna. We cannot allow gatekeepers to exploit Black women for profit while thinking they’ve done their bit for a good cause, while their infrastructure and money remain in exactly the same place.
Vanity Fair would not have looked twice at Breonna if she was alive, and it is immoral and unjust for Vanity Fair to profit from her death. This petition demands that all profit raised from Vanity Fair’s September Issue go directly to Black organisations and communities that are on the ground in Louisville and fighting for social justice such as Louisville Bail Fund.
This petition is to demands that Vanity Fair donate all profit to take accountability for their historic erasure of Black women, and subsequent commodification of Breonna and her likeness.
