The Vancouver Biennale has unveiled its 2021 public art piece to the city - a massive sculpture created by renowned Chinese artist Chen Wenling. Named "The  Proud Youth", this giant red boy looks at pedestrians with an innocent smile, bringing optimistic emotions to the people underneath. The second sculpture from this artist, "Boy Holding a Shark" is to be installed right across the ocean at South False Creek, reminding people of ocean protection and our relationship with nature.

"The Proud Youth" sculpture has received lots of positive comments, supporting making this Asian art piece another landmark. However, negative comments exist and sadly some are racist targeting the Asian community. As a result, the city is gathering comments to decide if the installation of the "Boy Holding a Shark" will be installed. For all who love to bring some colours and innocent smiles to the city, who reconcile with "The Proud Youth" 's story and the "Boy Holding a Shark" 's advocacy, please support and sign this petition to save the sculpture! Support Asian artists and speak up your voice!

Please sign this petition and email any positive comments to publicart@vancouver.ca and cc info@vancouverbiennale.com.

请支持《 抱鲨鱼的男孩》雕塑树立的各位积极发邮件到publicart@vancouver.ca 并抄送 info@vancouverbiennale.com !
