Recently, New Blueprint Partners purchased the former HP campus for redesign and development calling the project the Vancouver Innovation Center. The HP buildings were already purchased by NBP but the surrounding acreage, what we all see as cattle pastures and forest is being sold early 2021. Meetings with the developers and city commissioners over community concerns have already begun and residents have been left in the dark without a voice in a situation that will significantly impact our neighborhoods. You do have a say in what will become of the remaining land.

The developers have a plan for apartment buildings, parking lots, commercial businesses and light industrial business. All of these will create a burden our infrastructure cannot withstand. To list a few, an additional 21,000-29,000 cars making daily trips, 1100-1300 more residents while our schools are already at full capacity, 22 acres of mature trees and forest will be lost, as well as animal habitats. Congestion, pollution, pedestrian safety. While it is recognized that a growing community is a healthy community, overdevelopment has a remarkably negative outcome. What Fisher's Landing residents face is a potential high development scenario.

The alternative is for the city to use the surrounding land for a park. Our area has a park deficit of 186 acres and with the new development it will increase to a 200 acre DEFICIT. We need a community park where we can walk our pets and ourselves safely, with green space and trees, room enough to get the much needed exercise that brings balance for a healthy, productive community. Our tree canopy is already below the City's target of 28%. Having a park instead of more buildings and parking lots will decrease our parks deficit and increase our tree canopy. Please act now, there isn't much time but there is still time enough to make a difference and create something lasting and beautiful for our community.
