The Issue
Petition Regarding Team Captain Conduct and League Fairness
To whom it may concern,
This petition is being submitted to address a situation that raises serious concerns about fairness, integrity, and leadership within our summer league.
Trey Washell, a designated team captain, drafted his team at the beginning of the season and named it “F’ It We Ball.” As a captain, he was given the responsibility to build and lead his roster, and the players on his team committed to playing under his leadership.
However, midway through the season, Trey made the decision to leave the very team he drafted and join another team, “Lil Willys.” This move was made without the agreement or approval of any players on his original team. His departure not only undermines the structure of the league but also disrespects the commitment made to his teammates.
Additionally, this situation creates a major competitive imbalance. “Lil Willys” already has the best player in the league, and Trey is widely considered the second-best player. Allowing these two players to join forces significantly shifts the level of competition and compromises the fairness of the league for all other teams.
A team captain who drafts a roster should not be allowed to abandon that team midseason, especially without the consent of the players involved. This sets a harmful precedent and damages the trust and structure that the league depends on.
We respectfully request that the league review this situation and implement or enforce rules that:
- Prevent team captains from leaving teams they drafted without league approval
- Protect players from being left without leadership midseason
- Maintain competitive balance across all teams
This is not just about one team—it is about preserving fairness, accountability, and respect throughout the entire league.
Sincerely,
Everyone in Van Dusen Summer League besides Lil Willy’s and Trey Washell.
