Merle Dandridge, the voice actress for Alyx Vance in Valve's video games Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two has expressed that Vance has been her favorite character that she's ever portrayed, and that she carries a piece of the character in her heart and soul.

For the Valve's 2020 virtual reality game Half-Life: Alyx, the titular character was recast for unknown reasons.  Valve claims that it was to make Alyx sound younger, as the game takes place 5 years before Half-Life 2, Alyx's debut game, but we speculate that there are other reasons that led to Dandridge being replaced by Ozioma Akagha.  Either way, we want Merle Dandridge back as Alyx Vance in the next installment in the Half-Life series. 

After an interview of Dandridge was conducted by Tyler McVicker (found here) it is clear that Dandridge is deeply saddened by her replacement. She feels very strongly that Alyx has a special place in her heart and that she carries the character in her spirit.
