April 5, 2017 my son’s life changed forever, Phillip was a bright high school senior who was looking forward to college. He graduated high school six months early, he was accepted at four colleges. Phillip had never been in any trouble in his life. Phillip was doing wrong by selling small amounts of weed, to get the extras he needed for graduation as I have been a single mother his entire life and doing the best I could to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table. That fateful night Phillip chose to meet the wrong person to sell and things took a wrong turn and ended tragically. Phillip never lied , he was honest in court and with authorities. Pittsylvania county disregarded my son’s Constitutional rights on more than one occasion in my son’s case. The Commonwealth Attorney and Judge believe they are gods, and both should be removed from office. My son was never indicted in open court, as per Va code, he was taken to court after speedy trial had expired. The judge also overrode the jury’s verdict and gave it her own wording. My son never said he did not deserve punishment, but he did not deserve what the Commonwealth did to him. He took responsibility, he told the truth but because he would not say what Pittsylvania County wanted and he was not a gang member they disregarded Constitutional law to do what they wanted not what was right. Please help my son to get the justice he deserves and to possibly have both the Commonwealth attorney and the judge removed from their respected offices immediately.
