UVU's Elevator Problem

UVU's Elevator Problem
The Issue
UVU's elevators are a big problem, especially when it comes to disabled people who physically cannot take the stairs. The older buildings have slower elevators and are constantly out of order. For example, one of the elevators in the Clarke Building has not been functional for months, beginning fall semester of 2023. The elevator in Gunther Technology beside six flights of stairs is constantly out of order and incredibly slow compared to the school's other elevators as well as other universities.
Because of this, students and teachers with disabilities or injuries are unable to get to class on time in an effective and speedy manner. Even people without disabilities consistently take the elevator in Gunther Technology to avoid walking up six flights of stairs. However, we want to make sure that the elevators are readily assessable to people specifically with disabilities.
Furthermore, because the older buildings have slow elevators and students are unable to get to class on time, it is appalling to see that this problem is not yet fixed. To fix this solution, we propose placing QR codes outside of elevator doors to contact maintenance about a problem. UVU has already done this with the bathrooms, so it would be easy to implement on the elevators and fix our problem. We need your help to sign the petition and push UVU to taking action!
