A  glacier burst took place on Sunday in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand after a chunk of Nanda Devi glacier broke off. It triggered an avalanche and a deluge crushing two hydroelectric power stations and washing away scores of homes. More than 100 people are missing . 

  By evening, the prospect of largescale flooding and destruction had receded. And, as scientists prepared to travel to the site in the high mountains north of Chamoli to ascertain the cause of the incident, the scenario being most talked about was what glaciologists like to call a GLOF, or glacial lake outburst flood. It is a reference to flooding caused downstream due to a breach in a glacial lake.

Many precautions are being taken for the workers and citizens . Many people asked "Glacier burst in winter ,how is this possible ?" So scientist said there is climate change behind all this destruction . We are praying for the people and their family . The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh has said he is continuously monitoring the situation in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, where two hydropower plants have suffered major damage after the glacial outburst on Sunday morning.

Climate Change or Globlal Warming is becoming a great hub  many icebergs , glaciers melt because of this as a result Antartica 's Polar Bear and glaciers are suffering . This leads to increase temperature and water level on earth . Lets promise to plant trees to decrease climate change  not just for Uttarakhand but to our country and earth too .
