What UTRGV students demand:

-Create more parking spaces! If those parking spaces are going to be built far away, have scheduled shuttle buses to take us to campus.

-If you refuse to build more parking, then stop charging for parking! Refund us our parking permit money!

Classes just began on August 29th and already we have seen and experienced how bad finding a parking space can be. At 9 in the morning there are literally no more parking spaces available. If you have classes at noon, you drive around in circles, wasting gas and time till you find someone backing out of their parking space in order for you to take it. Or like a creep you follow a student in hopes they are leaving so you can park there.

Everyone knows you need to purchase a parking permit to park at the school parking lots. Also without fail every start of the semester Assist is sure to remind everyone about it. We pay to park, but there are not enough parking spaces available! They know the total amount of people that buy parking permits, and they know the total amount of parking spaces they have. They know they don't have enough parking for everyone. Yet they keep taking our money and enforcing parking permits on everyone! They also give parking tickets left and right. What are they doing with that money, with our money?!

UTRGV has always had conflict with insufficient parking. The president, vice president, leadership, everyone in a position to make a positive change about it knows it yet they have done nothing in regards to it!

And what is up with the construction?! Why isn't it finished?! If it's a city thing why hasn't UTRGV put pressure on them?! Schunior Rd. is a crucial road a lot of students take to commute to school. Another thing, the entrance to the parking. Why is there a slab of concrete missing? There is a huge dip when you enter. That is not okay!

Now, UTRGV prides themselves in the high ranking position they hold. That ranking is because of us; because of our good academic grades and high amount of graduation rates, both in bachelor's and master's degree. And this is how they reward us? with extremely bad parking

This parking situation has gone on for way too long. It is way overdue and change has to be made. They need to hear us. If you can, please leave a comment regarding your experience with the parking situation.
