Prevent Energy Companies being allowed to double the Standing Charge

Prevent Energy Companies being allowed to double the Standing Charge
The Issue
The country has been through a pandemic that has caused great hardship (in this case financial) to many households/businesses. People are trying to recover from this, and now they are being given another blow not only with NI increase but this massive hike in utility prices.
The hike in particular is coming in the standing charge some over 50%. This is not sustainable as wages have not increased. A cap needs to be put in place to reduce this. There are not many options for people to choose from, as many fixed prices are higher.
Listening to peoples stories is heartbreaking, do we eat, or keep warm. The government needs to act now and help the people.
April is almost here, and then an October price will be issued, this will be horrendous for the winter months. Many people do not want to be paying back £200 for the next 5 years. This has to be looked at in a sensible. Please act now.
