Pass Utah H.B. 217 - Recall of United States Senator

Pass Utah H.B. 217 - Recall of United States Senator
Why this petition matters

The representatives that we the people elect must be held accountable. Once elected to a long 6-year term, a Senator can pursue whatever interests they want, even if it is not supported by the people who elected them. The Utah Legislators must pass H.B. 217, which sets up guidelines for the process of recalling a United States Senator.
Utah state Representative Tim Quinn introduced and supports this bill to protect the people of Utah from any current or future United States Senators who do not pursue the interests that they were elected to stand for. "The bill, HB217, would establish a process for legal voters to petition through signature gathering to place a question on the ballot to recall a U.S. senator" (Katie McKellar, KSL). Under this bill, the recalling of a U.S. Senator would not be an easy task, nor should it be. The petition would require the signatures of a daunting 25% of active Utah voters for the recall to be placed on the ballot.
Our U.S. Senators must stand for the people of Utah and pursue our interests. They cannot be given free reign with nothing to hold them accountable for 6 years after they are elected. The state of Utah must lead the charge for holding our U.S. Congress accountable.
