Keep the Current Rule re: Putting with the Flagstick In the Hole.

The USGA/R&A recently proposed a number of new rules and changes that will "modernize" the Rules of Golf.
While many of the proposed Rules simplify the rules book, modernize the game, and improve pace of play, they do so while honoring the traditions, spirit, and principles of the game itself. We support the majority of the proposed rules changes.
However, we do not support one proposed change: the change that would not penalize a player for striking an unattended flagstick in the hole while putting from on the green. We feel this will dramatically make putting easier, and even slow the pace of play as players take the flagstick in and out repeatedly on each green.
For these two main reasons, we are asking the USGA and R&A to keep the current rule, which penalized a player two strokes for striking the flagstick with the ball when a stroke is made from the putting green.
Please see "flagstickrule.com" for more detailed information, data, and discussion on how this one change could damage the game we all love.
