The Issue

In our community, we have faced increasing incidents of loose dogs attacking individuals and even killing livestock on personal property. This situation has reached a critical point, causing distress and posing safety risks to our residents. It's not just a rare occurrence; it has become a common problem that demands immediate attention and action from our city officials.

The presence of dogs roaming freely is not only a threat to our personal safety but also to the safety of our domestic animals and livestock. Imagine the fear of knowing that at any moment, an uncontrolled dog might pose a danger to your family or your pets. It is a fear that no one should endure.

The crux of the issue lies in the lack of enforcement of existing city leash laws due to insufficient resources allocated to hire enough personnel, specifically a dedicated dog catcher. By using city funding to hire a professional dog catcher, we can ensure that leash laws are enforced, thus preventing these potentially dangerous situations.

Enforcing these laws will not only uphold the safety and peace in our community but will also serve as a deterrent to irresponsible pet ownership. It would make pet owners more conscious of their responsibilities, reducing the likelihood of dogs roaming unsupervised.

Our city has the capability to address this issue through proper budgeting and allocation of resources. Implementing this measure will demonstrate our commitment to maintaining a safe and harmonious community.

We urge you to sign this petition and help us show our city officials that this is a priority. With your support, we can push for the changes needed to protect our community and ensure everyone can live without fear of unexpected and dangerous animal encounters.
