A scandal in the UK has forced Rupert Murdoch to disband one of the raunchy tabloids called the News of the World. It has been revealed that Murdoch's influence has gone beyond accepting unethical and illegal hacking of families of killed soldiers to influencing top levels of the UK Government including past and present Prime Ministers.

Murdoch's empire owns the Fox News Network as well as the Wall Street Journal. Murdoch, who was Australian, naturalized as a US citizen in order to spread his influence and control over the US Media.

If his organization steeps to low levels of journalistic standards as he has done in Australia and England, what prevents him from influencing our domestic politics and economics when he also has editorial control of Fox News and the Wall Street Journal?

I ask that the U.S. House of Representatives addresses the issue of Rupert Murdoch's media consolidation in the US amid a scandal over his now closed News of the World tabloid in the UK and limit his personal influence in the political and economic affairs of our country by requiring him to do the following:

1) Order him to fiully divest himself of his ownership of FOX News (or Fox Noise as critics may call it) and the Wall Street Journal.

2) Restrict non - US born citizens access to anything more than a minority shareholder status in the US media sector.

and/or,

(3) Require said owners or holders of foreign media enterprises to establish fully independent, US based holding companies for any media sector holdings in this nation.
