Every day millions of animals are caged and abused or put down because there is no control of the animal breeding practices in this country. We don't have any laws in place that protect the animals nor the government. Every city needs at least one shelter and every shelter is limited in space, which means most of the dogs are euthanized. We spend our tax dollars to foster this idea of "the kill shleter."

There needs to be legislation in place to protect the animals from being placed in small cages and bred over and over until they are no longer useful to the breeder and then disposed of. There needs to be legislation in place to require every breeder to be fully licensed and insured. There need to be inspections of the facilities and there need to be serious consequences to their actions. There needs to be legislation banning the selling of dogs from unlicensed breeders. There needs to be a strict guideline in place that prohibits the breeder from selling a dog that is not neutered or spayed. The cities need to join in and employ more people to investigate these instances, than spending their time destroying the animals who are not to blame for the actions of the breeders and owners.

I'm asking for a special measure, one that would be US wide, that would stop this destructive and costly practice. I have personally rescued dogs from bad situations and this needs to stop. The only way to stop it, is to make it illegal. There is no other way when even pet-stores can sell dogs from backyard breeders. Dogs who are sick and malnourished, filthy and flea ridden, with various conditions that are indicative of abuse.

We have far too many dogs, far too many withouth homes, we do not need to continue to breed dogs, what we need is legislation. Please help me fight for these wonderful animals, who would give their lives to protect us, yet are discarded like trash hour upon the hour. They cannot ask for mercy, so I'm asking for them.
