First, Red Lady is Mt. Emmons nickname for the hue it get's when the sun hits it. If the US Energy Corp starts mining Red Lady it will have detrimental effects on Crested Butte's drinking water, air quality, and the local's themselves. This has been an on-going battle since the US Energy Corp, bought the land in 1977 for $5 an acre. Red Lady is near and dear to the hearts of all that live here and to those who travel here.
