Automotive technicians for fair labor practices

The Issue

  • The flat rate pay system is a dated impractical system. Soley incentive based. No gaurentee of a wage for the time put in.   It hurts everyone involved in the automotive industry, including the consumer.  The only ones who benefit from this unfair labor practice are the car makers and dealers.
  •  Warranty fraud is running rampant, and even worse the up-selling of repairs that are not needed.  Technicians have been main participants for years, all in order to secure a decent living for there essential and skilled work. Techs have all had to lie to put food on the table for far to long.
  •  More and more valuable technicians are leaving the trade and it has been left in a shortage. Other trades benefit from unions, but as the only retail storefront trade it is next to impossible to unionize.
  • Labor rates climb but Technicians still struggle to obtain what they are worth.   There is a reason why your neighbor the mechanic can do repairs in the driveway at a fraction of the price it. would be at any retailer.
  • Where do all the profits go? To the dealers and manufacturers of automobiles.
  • Help mechanics help you by fighting along side them for a fair wage.  Your pockets will benefit as well as theirs. Sign this petition to abolish the flat rate pay system.
