Urgently improve Ninewells Hospital parking

Urgently improve Ninewells Hospital parking
The Issue
We are writing to highlight significant safety and wellbeing concerns stemming from the insufficient parking at our hospital (Ninewells, Dundee). The current lack of available spaces not only poses risks to staff, patients, and visitors—especially women and vulnerable individuals walking long distances to offsite parking—but it also significantly affects the wellbeing of the workforce.
Many working parents face particular challenges, as they are unable to arrive at work earlier due to school drop-offs. All parking is often full by 8:30 AM, forcing them to seek alternatives that compromise their safety and increase stress.
Additionally, the absence of suitable pedestrian crossings onsite and in the surrounding areas, such as Ninewells Avenue and Glams Road, exacerbates these risks. If this situation continues, we are likely to see an accident.
We urge NHS Tayside to consider these critical issues and explore potential solutions to improve parking availability and enhance pedestrian safety for all. Addressing this situation is vital for ensuring a safer and more supportive environment for everyone who visits the hospital. We as staff, patients and visitors have put up with this for far too long and something must change.
