Subject: Inclusion of Agenda Items for Special General Meeting on 1 August 2024

 

Dear Abdul Ghafoor Adam,

Further ot our letter dated July 3, 2024, requesting a Special General Meeting (SGM), we thank you for arranging the SGM on August 11, 2024. in accordance with the constitution, we also request that the secretary add the following agenda items to the SGM scheduled for August 11, 2024.

This request is made in accordance with Clause 19 of the Masjid E Tauheedul Islam constitution, which allows any ten or more members to require the Secretary to summon a Special General Meeting by providing a written notice specifying the agenda.

Clause 19 of the Constitution states:

"Any ten members of the Association or more may require the Secretary by notice in writing specifying
the agenda to summon a Special General Meeting of the Association. Upon receipt of such notice, the Secretary shall forthwith give not less than fourteen day's notice to all members of the Association and to the Chairman and Committee for the time being of the Association of such meetings, also specifying the agenda therefore."

The inclusion of these agenda items is necessitated by concerns regarding the lack of transparency in procedures and apparent contradictions to our constitution in the forthcoming Special General Meeting on 11 August 2024. We express our lack of confidence in the current unelected Trustees and Executive Committee members to oversee a fair and transparent election process. Specific issues include conflicts of interest and nepotism, exemplified by committee applicants having family
members who are unelected trustees.

Accordingly, we propose the following agenda items for the Special General Meeting on 1 August 2024:

1. The dissolution of the current Trustees and Executive Committee members with immediate effect. 

2. The current flawed election process to be abandoned immediately.

3. The appointment of an interim group of four independent trustees, selected by the founding members, who will not apply to be trustees/committee members and have no familial connections to
the incumbent unelected Trustees/Committee members.

4.This interim group will communicate with all founding members regarding the process and criteria for elections by no later than 31 August 2024.

5. The interim group will conduct elections by 15 September 2024.

6. The inauguration of the elected members will occur no later than 22 September 2024 during a second Special General Meeting.
Please confirm the inclusion of the aforementioned agenda items via email to mtiworkingcommittee@yahoo.com by no later than 4:00 PM on 2nd August 2024.

Failure to respond within the stipulated time frame wil necessitate the convening of a Special General Meeting (SGM) on 4th August 2024, immediately following Asar Salah (scheduled for 7:30 PM), at Masjid E Tauheedul  Islam, First Floor, for the purpose of discussing the aforementioned agenda items.

Upon the conclusion of the SGM on 4th August 2024, we wil proceed to seek judicial ratification by filing a Part 8 Claim with the court.

This petition has served as a platform to give hope and a voice to the voiceless. It aims to protect those who care about and are invested in the betterment of our madrassah and who were hurt and upset by recent events, but did not want to reveal their identities. It is a peaceful platform to express genuine concerns."

Here on this platform, everyone has been able to safely air their concerns without being attacked, abused, or emotionally bullied, and without being accused of choosing sides.

There is a written petition circulating which has also been a huge success. Please, if possible, sign that petition as well.

We never intended to cause harm or upset to any of you. It's truly disappointing that our repeated attempts to communicate with you were ignored—we knocked on your doors countless times, but our calls fell on deaf ears. We refuse to shoulder the blame for the consequences.

 We provided you with ample opportunities to step down with dignity, but it seems fate has other plans.

On this platform, we have included all the names that were nominated.

With the support of you members of the community and instructed Lawyers , we strongly feel that victory is on the horizon.

IMPORTANT UPDATE 4!

We have time remaining to submit your final votes for the Interim Team of Trustees.

So far, the names listed below have been put forward by members of the public.

The vote remains open until  June 2024.

For those willing to accept this Interim Trustee role just to be clear this is what it will involve...

• Shaping the Madrasah/Masjid back to its intended state.
• Reinstating Maulana Suhail immediately.
• Organising the election of the Committee and Trustees via the AGM at the earliest opportunity, no later than 8 weeks.

By then, you will have had the opportunity to assess whether this role is suitable for you and you are most welcome to stand for re-election.

The voting process is ongoing; we are still collating votes as they come in.

If our request to reinstate Maulana Suhail Manya is ignored, we will have no choice but to take the next steps. 

In the meantime, in order for us to carry this out smoothly we are now seeking the community’s support to select INTERIM TRUSTEES.

Criteria for Appointing a Trustee in a Mosque:

1.     Good Character: Must follow Islamic principles and have a good reputation.

2.     Gender: Male

3.     Age: 30+  

4.     Commitment: Should be dedicated to the mosque and its activities.

5.     Knowledge and Experience: Understand the mosque's mission and have leadership experience.

6.      Skills: Useful skills like finance, legal knowledge, or organisational skills.

7.     Communication: Able to communicate well with everyone in the community.

8.     Transparency: Committed to making decisions openly and honestly.

9.     Community Representation: Should reflect the diversity of the mosque's members.

10.  Legal Compliance: Must follow all relevant laws and regulations.

11.  Conflict Resolution: Able to help resolve disputes within the community.

12.  Vision: Can contribute to the mosque's long-term planning.

13.   Paying Member: Must be a paying member of the mosque.

UPDATE 2: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED‼️ 

This petition platform is neutral and will only move forward according to the public’s vote.

The final vote will take place on Friday, 31st May at 6pm. By that time, if the trustees have not reinstated Moulana Suhail and have not communicated their plan to resolve this issue, a platform to appoint new committee members and trustees will be opened.

We sincerely hope that egos and divisions do not interfere, and that the trustees recognise this open and transparent platform, making the right choice for the benefit of our community. We truly do not want to push for taking matters into the community’s hands, so please support us in supporting you.

Dear members of the Public, Parents of the Children, Masjid-e-Tauheedul Islam Members and Teachers,

I hope this finds you all in good health and high spirits.

PLEASE SIGN PETITION BELOW FOR CHANGE!

Recent events within our community have left many feeling uneasy and concerned about the current direction of our Masjid-e-Tauheedul Islam. These incidents have caused significant distress, especially amongst the students, teachers attending the Madrasah and the neighbours leaving them feeling upset, distressed and scared. Additionally, the example being set for them does not align with our values as Muslims. It is imperative that our community has a voice in the governance of the Madrasah, particularly in the selection of those in leadership positions.

The ongoing power/ego struggles and issues of control are escalating, causing embarrassment and tarnishing our community's and Islams reputation. This not only affects our present standing but also sets a troubling precedent for future generations. The current situation underscores the urgent need for change.

While we acknowledge and appreciate the dedication and hard work of the current trustees, we believe that it is time to implement a fairer and more transparent process for selecting trustees and committee members. By allowing the members of the public to vote on these matters, we can ensure that the leadership truly represents the interests and will of the community.

We understand that instituting these changes will require time and effort, but we firmly believe they are necessary. Our community stands ready to support and assist Masjid-e-Tauheedul Islam in this transition. Together, we can work towards a brighter and more harmonious future for all involved.

In light of these concerns, we urgently call for an immediate public vote to select trustees and committee members and if need be a new Principle, as the trustees are presently failing us. 

In the interim, we request the IMMEDIATE REINSTATEMENT of Maulana Suhail’s contract as students and teachers are presently being affected without the presence, guidance and leadership of the Principle. 

It is unjust for him to be forced to leave or resign. Should Maulana Suhail be compelled to leave, we insist that the current committee members to also step down.

The reason for this petition and our push for change stems from us not wishing to see anyone physically hurt or arrested due to ego-driven power struggles. It is essential that decisions are made collectively, reflecting the diverse voices within our community, rather than being left solely in the hands of a few committee members.

We humbly request that if you could please sign the petition below, it is really important the community voice is heard. We look forward to working together to create a more inclusive and transparent future for our Masjid-e-Tauheedul Islam.
