Urgent Review of Unfit for Purpose CMS

The Issue

The current CMS system in the UK, by its design, seems to fail both paying and non paying parents due to the lack of ability to conduct thorough research when concern is raised from either parent regarding a decided outcome. IT IS NO LONGER FIT FOR PURPOSE. Countless parents like myself, who are striving to provide for their children post-separation, are left without adequate financial support and are further victimised, emotionally and financially. This is not just a personal issue but a systemic flaw affecting many across the nation. I firmly believe an element of this allows a post-separation abuse dynamic to continue between seperated families and it must be reviewed.

The heart of the problem is the CMS's inability to adequately assess and enforce a true and fair obligation from the paying parent. Abusers manipulate the system, continuing emotional and financial abuse long after separation, effectively perpetuating a devastating cycle without consequence. For instance, reducing payment obligations based on a declared reduced income does not account for such manipulative tactics. The system should be reinforced with mechanisms that evaluate lifestyle spending and the satisfaction of basic child needs as priorities over mere income declaration.

We need an immediate review and reform of the CMS system to prevent its misuse as a tool of abuse. Policies should be adjusted to incorporate thorough investigations of the payer's lifestyle against declared income, ensuring fair contributions are made for the welfare of children.

By signing this petition, you are calling for a change to make the CMS a system that truly protects the interests of children and the vulnerable parent, without enabling further abuse. Together, let's urge the UK government to address these flaws and create a secure, just environment for all families.
