We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the dangerous conditions on Highway 37, which runs through Bradley Junction and Mulberry, Florida. This highway has become a high-traffic area where reckless driving, excessive speeding, and dangerous passing maneuvers are alarmingly common. These behaviors have led to numerous accidents, many of them fatal, putting the lives of drivers, passengers, and local residents at risk.
**The Issues:**
- **High Accident Rate:** The frequency of serious accidents on Highway 37 is unacceptable. Many of these accidents are caused by reckless driving, speeding, and the lack of safe passing opportunities.
- **Lack of Police Patrols:** There is an alarming lack of law enforcement presence on this stretch of highway. Without regular patrols, drivers feel emboldened to break traffic laws, further endangering everyone on the road.
- **Need for Roadway Improvements:** The current design of Highway 37, with limited passing lanes and narrow shoulders, contributes to dangerous driving conditions. Expanding the road to include additional lanes or other safety features would help reduce the risk of accidents.
**Our Requests:**
- **Increased Police Patrols:** We urge local law enforcement to significantly increase their presence on Highway 37, particularly during peak traffic hours, to deter reckless driving and enforce traffic laws.
- **Roadway Expansion:** We call on the Florida Department of Transportation to conduct a thorough assessment of Highway 37 and consider expanding the road to include additional lanes, particularly in high-risk areas, to improve safety for all users.
