URGENT: Help Pass Tim-Tim’s Law — Calling on All States to Support-Please Act Now
The Issue
My name is Lea Harmon, and I am asking for your support to bring attention to an urgent issue affecting families across Alabama—and across the United States.
On April 14, 2024, my son, Timothy Truman Harmon Jr., lovingly known as Tim-Tim, was found deceased in a yard in Woodland, Alabama after lying there for multiple days. During that time, several individuals saw him—and walked away. None of them called 911.
“One person finally stood up for Tim-Tim and said:
‘This is not right. He is someone’s son, possibly a father.’”
Because Alabama is not a mandatory reporting state in situations like this, there is no legal requirement to report a deceased individual. As a result, no charges can be filed against several of the people that failed to act.
The consequences for our family have been devastating. My son’s body was too decomposed for a proper viewing. His three children were denied the chance to see their father one last time. We were denied the dignity of saying goodbye.
This is why I am fighting for Tim-Tim’s Law.
Tim-Tim’s Law would require any person who discovers someone deceased or in distress to immediately notify law enforcement or emergency services. This law is not about punishment—it is about saving lives, ensuring dignity in death, creating accountability, and protecting families from unnecessary trauma.
No family should ever be told their loved one was seen and ignored.
No child should lose their final goodbye because someone made that decision not to make a phone call.
Our family has been working with Alabama Senator Randy Price since April 2024 to advance this legislation. We are committed to seeing Tim-Tim’s Law passed in Alabama—and expanded to every state that currently lacks reporting requirements.
This is not just an Alabama issue. This is a human issue.
We have launched this petition and are gathering signatures both online and in person to show lawmakers that people across the country care and demand change.
We are calling on supporters from ALL STATES to sign and share this petition as we take this effort nationwide—focusing on states without mandatory reporting laws for individuals who are deceased or in distress.
Together, we can make sure no one is ever left behind.
Please sign this petition today and help us turn tragedy into change.
Thank you for your time and support.
Sincerely,
Lea Harmon
