Urgent Call to Address Medical Center Crisis in Greater Tyrrelstown Area.

Urgent Call to Address Medical Center Crisis in Greater Tyrrelstown Area.
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Tyrrelstown, Bellingsmore, Bay Meadow, Hollywoodrath and surrounding areas, urgently call upon all candidates running in the upcoming local elections to prioritise the restoration of accessible healthcare services in our community.
The recent closure of one of our local medical centres has left our community in a dire situation. With a rapidly growing population and the emergence of new estates (Churchfileds and Kilmartin Grove), the demand for healthcare services has surged. This lack of access to primary healthcare services poses a significant risk to the well-being of our community members, making it increasingly difficult for local residents to secure timely appointments with GPs.
Furthermore, the closure of the medical centre has resulted in the transfer of patient files to distant locations, making it cumbersome for individuals to register with a GP. This administrative hurdle further exacerbates the already strained healthcare situation in our area.
We recognise that GPs play a crucial role as the first point of contact for non-emergency illnesses and health concerns. However, with limited availability and overcrowding at the remaining medical centre, many residents are left without proper access to essential healthcare services.
While online consultations offer a potential alternative, many members of our community face challenges in effectively communicating their health concerns without the benefit of face-to-face interaction with a healthcare professional. This underscores the urgent need for accessible, in-person healthcare services within our community.
Therefore, we call upon all candidates running in the local elections for Blanchardstown Mulhuddart Local Electoral Area to prioritise healthcare access as a key issue in their election manifestos. Specifically, we urge them to commit to:
- Advocating for the establishment of additional medical facilities.
- Working with the Department of Health to conduct a thorough assessment of the healthcare needs of the area and implement targeted solutions to address gaps in service provision.
- Collaborating with community stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and residents to develop sustainable long-term strategies for enhancing healthcare delivery in our area.
Additionally, we urge the Department of Health to recognise the gravity of the situation in the Greater Tyrrelstown Area and take immediate action to investigate and address this healthcare crisis as a matter of urgency.
We, the undersigned, believe that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right for every individual in our community. It is imperative that our elected representatives and government authorities take decisive action to ensure that this right is upheld for all residents of Tyrrelstown, Bellingsmore, BayMeadows, Hollywoodrath and surrounding estates.
Sincerely,
@TheSCRedemption
