Introduction
The crisis in Gaza demands immediate action. Innocent children and women face
imminent danger, and silence is not an option. As humanitarian leaders have stated,
“The care and protection of children is arguably the greatest responsibility of every
human being.” Failing to act is a failure of morality, humanity, and leadership. We must
act urgently, decisively, and immediately to save these lives. History will judge us by our
response to this catastrophe. We have a collective duty to ensure no child is scarred by
war.
The Crisis in Gaza
The situation is dire. According to UN reports and medical services, as of May 27, 2025,
at least 54,271 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with the majority being women
and children. UN Women estimates over 28,000 women and girls among the victims,
while Palestinian health authorities report nearly one-third of the total victims are under
18. Thousands of mothers have left behind orphaned children. Since March 2025, Gaza
has been under a near-total siege, with humanitarian aid convoys blocked or attacked,
medical evacuations delayed, and deliveries of food, fuel, water, and medicine nearly
halted.
The consequences are catastrophic. The UN warns that over one million women and
girls face starvation, with supplies critically low. Relief agencies report that after nearly
three months of siege, Gaza requires an immediate scale-up of food assistance to
prevent famine. UN officials state that those trapped by the blockade “have lost all
hope.”
Children are the most vulnerable. Many are injured, sick, malnourished, or homeless.
UNICEF reports that over 80% of Gaza’s hospitals have been damaged or destroyed,
and two-thirds of the water and sanitation systems are non-functional, leaving children
dehydrated, malnourished, and dying from disease. Over 17,000 children have been
separated from their parents, and UN agencies are searching for as many as 21,000
children who are missing—trapped under rubble, detained, buried in unmarked graves,
or orphaned. Pregnant women and newborns lack access to power or medicine. Sick
children cannot reach hospitals. With winter approaching, entire families lack shelter or
heat. Every hour without action claims more young lives to violence, hunger, or disease.
Demands
We demand urgent action on the following:
1. Immediate Safe Evacuation of Children and Women
Ensure the immediate evacuation of all children under 16 and all women from
conflict zones. Cease attacks on civilian areas and establish protected
humanitarian corridors under UN and Red Cross supervision to guarantee safe
passage, with no exceptions or delays. The International Court of Justice (ICJ)
has ordered unimpeded access for humanitarian aid. We call on the UN Security
Council to enforce these orders, including halting military operations in
populated areas.
2. Permanent Ceasefire and Protection Guarantees
Declare an immediate and lasting ceasefire to protect children and women from
further harm. All military operations in civilian areas must stop, and all hostages
must be released unconditionally. All parties must halt attacks on civilians and
civilian infrastructure in compliance with international law, prioritizing human
life above all else.
3. Full Humanitarian Lifeline
Lift restrictions and allow unrestricted delivery of food, clean water, medicine,
fuel, and shelter. The World Food Programme warns that the situation “has
spiralled out of control” due to aid shortages. Every blocked or delayed aid truck
is a moral failure. We urge Egypt, the UN, and all partners to open crossings and
ensure immediate aid flow to starving children and nursing mothers.
4. Urgent Medical Evacuation for the Wounded
Facilitate immediate medical evacuations for over 8,000 critically injured
individuals, including children and pregnant women, who require urgent care
outside conflict zones. Establish secured convoys and airlifts with international
monitors to transport those with life-threatening conditions, including cancer
patients, surgical cases, newborns in incubators, and trauma victims.
5. Accountability and Compliance with International Law
All parties must adhere to the Genocide Convention, Geneva Conventions, and
other humanitarian laws protecting civilians. The ICJ has mandated the provision
of urgently needed services and aid. We call on all governments to enforce these
obligations. Individuals or forces obstructing aid, targeting civilians, or engaging
in collective punishment must face investigation and accountability. We
demand an independent international investigation into all violations of
international law to ensure justice for victims.
6. Long-Term Solutions for the Displaced
After the conflict, establish mechanisms for the safe and voluntary return of
displaced individuals to their homes, with guarantees of security and
reconstruction assistance.
Our Neutral Stance
This petition does not take sides in the conflict. As a white woman with no religious
affiliations, I stand solely for the protection of innocent children and women who are
caught in a war that is not their fight. Children are innocent. Women are innocent. Their
lives must be saved from bloodshed and suffering. This is a humanitarian call to action,
not a political statement.
Conclusion
The time to choose humanity over indifference is now. As a global community, we
cannot allow innocent children to suffer and die alone. The eyes of history are upon us.
We must prove we are a global family of conscience, not passive bystanders. The lives
of vulnerable children and women rest in your hands.
We implore you: act without delay. Open your hearts and borders. Organize airlifts or
ground convoys to save these lives. On behalf of children who cannot speak for
themselves and mothers who cherish their children—including my own precious
autistic son—I urge immediate action. Let our legacy be one of compassion and
decisive action in the face of humanity’s greatest test.
Act because you can. Be human.
