The Issue

To: The Governments of Cambodia and Thailand, ASEAN, and the United Nations Security Council

We, the undersigned, are citizens of Thailand, Cambodia, and the international community who are deeply concerned about the recent escalation of hostilities along the border.

Every bullet fired and every shell launched carries a human cost. Conflict threatens the lives of soldiers and civilians, displaces families from their homes, destroys vital infrastructure, and sows fear in communities that have lived in peace for generations. It also risks destabilizing a region known for its cooperation and economic growth.

We believe that no political or territorial dispute is worth the loss of a single human life. Dialogue, diplomacy, and a commitment to peaceful resolution are the only paths to lasting security and prosperity for both nations.

Therefore, we urgently call for:

  • An Immediate and Unconditional Ceasefire: Both parties must lay down their arms and halt all military operations to prevent further loss of life and humanitarian suffering.
  • The Prioritization of Dialogue: We urge the governments of Thailand and Cambodia to immediately resume high-level diplomatic talks, utilizing established bilateral mechanisms and welcoming mediation from neutral parties like ASEAN or the UN if necessary.
  • Humanitarian Access: Ensure safe and unhindered access for humanitarian organizations to assist civilians affected by the conflict, including those in border villages who may be trapped or displaced.
  • A Commitment to Peaceful Resolution: To reaffirm commitment to existing treaties and frameworks and to resolve all outstanding issues through legal and diplomatic means, not through force.
  • The people of Thailand and Cambodia share a rich history, cultural ties, and a common future. This moment calls for courage—not on the battlefield, but at the negotiating table.

We stand together as neighbors and global citizens in demanding peace. We call on you to listen to the voices of your people and the international community.
