Urgent Appeal to the UNHRC: Protect Minorities in Bangladesh

Urgent Appeal to the UNHRC: Protect Minorities in Bangladesh
The Issue
We, the undersigned, urgently call upon the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to take immediate action to protect the lives, rights, and dignity of minority communities in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh, a nation of approximately 168.07 million, is currently in the turmoil of an unexpected military coup as of August 6, 2024. This political instability has led to rampant violence jeopardizing the security and fundamental rights of minority communities.
As global citizens, we must stand up and appeal to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to act swiftly and resolutely to ensure the protection of these vulnerable groups. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's removal has further escalated this crisis, making the demand for intervention by international bodies crucial.
By adding your signature, you help in advocating for the immediate action required from the UNHRC to establish peace and restore the rights of these communities. Do not stand idle in the face of injustice. Sign this petition.
We Demand:
1. A UNHRC Fact-Finding Mission to Bangladesh to document and report on the human rights violations against minority communities.
2. Engagement with the Bangladesh Government to ensure immediate and effective measures to protect these minorities and to hold perpetrators accountable.
3. Safe Passage for Refugees fleeing violence, with the provision of humanitarian aid to those affected.
4. International Intervention to pressure the Bangladesh Government to safeguard its minority populations.
5. Rebuilding Initiatives to restore the lives and livelihoods of those impacted by the violence.
6. Long-Term Solutions through legal reforms and security measures to ensure the ongoing protection of minority communities in Bangladesh.
7. To ensure accountability, a high-level committee with strong monitoring and follow-up procedures should be established for those responsible for violence and crime.
8. Every victim must offer humanitarian aid and proudly and dignifiedly defend their rights.
